DLI Admission Checklist

2 min read

This is an initial checklist for DLI admission applications. We may request additional documents based on the need for your application and current requirements.

Most colleges in Ontario do not accept over five years of gap.

Different DLIs have different documents requirements. Below are the most common requirements we observed. We can find your DLI specific requirements once we work on your application. DLIs make admission decisions independently. We cannot influence or speed up the decision-making process of colleges and universities.

Official Documents (transcript and certificates).

You may need to mail official transcripts and graduation certificates to the DLI for assessment of this application or after an admissions decision is made. Please ensure that you provide these documents in a sealed envelope directly from the issuing institution: DLI will not accept them if they cannot confirm their authenticity.

Some DLIs may accept official transcripts over email. When sending through email, no other party should be in cc. It must be directly from the issuing institution’s official email to the receiving institution’s official email.

Some DLIs might consider this requirement fulfilled if the home university verifies the credentials online or submits a WES ICAP report along with the application.

Credential Evaluation Report – WES Course by Course Report.
GRE/GMAT – some universities may wave off with significant experience in the field.
Personal Statement – personal statement/letter of intent describing the applicant’s academic and professional background, motivation, aptitude, and career goals related to the study of the program and explaining why the applicant is an ideal candidate.

Some universities may ask this in a prescribed format, such as a ‘1-page cover letter’. DO NOT submit generic statements. These must be your unique work tailored to a specific DLI and program.

Reference List (minimum 3) – Name, Organization/Employer, Position Title, Email Address of the Company (generic like Gmail, Yahoo not accepted), Phone Number, and Company Address.

Some universities may require formal reference letters on official letterheads. Some universities may ask for a mix of academic and professional references.
